Building on the University’s strengths in multidisciplinary integration, the Department of Environmental Science focuses on fundamental laws and processes of environmental systems, and develops a comprehensive disciplinary system covering environmental chemistry, environmental toxicology and health, environmental functional materials, as well as environmental and sustainable energy.
The Department emphasizes a systematic understanding of the impacts of natural processes and human activities on environmental quality and ecological safety across molecular, individual, ecosystem and regional scales. It explores driving mechanisms and response characteristics of environmental changes, so as to provide scientific support for technological innovation in environmental engineering and decision-making on environmental governance.
